National

Sales of food and beverage services recorded an increase of 2.3 per cent in the second quarter of 2025, compared to the second quarter 2024, with sales revenue increasing to 113.4 million dollars.

The increase in sales revenue of food and beverage services was attributed to increases in sales revenue of catering services activities; other food services activities such as food courts and food kiosks; fast-food outlets and restaurants. Meanwhile, in terms of volume, food and beverage services also recorded a positive growth of 1.9 per cent, indicating a rise in domestic demand. As for retail sales performance, the sales value and volume recorded a decrease.

The retail sales value decreased by 6.2 per cent, with sales revenue decreasing from 420.6 million dollars to 394.7 million dollars. This decrease was mainly attributed to decreases in the sales revenue of textiles, clothing apparel and footwear, followed by furniture and household equipment; department store sales; hardware, paints and glass; and supermarket sales. In terms of volume, retail sales activity also recorded a negative growth of 6.3 per cent, reflecting a fall in domestic demand.
